A discography and essay in identification, investigating the likely involvement in a number of hitherto mysterious recording sessions on the Paramount label of trumpeter Davidson C. Nelson with support from documentary evidence and aural evaluation. Also included is an assessment of Nelson's contribution to the later recordings of Joe "King" Oliver, reputed to be his uncle. 

 

A discographical study of the recordings of Nelson's oft-times partner on Paramount, the virtuoso reed player Vance Dixon, is also included. Also inclded is feedback of additions and corrections to Richard M. Jones: Forgotten Man Of Jazz.
